Kiondo bags are a very laboriously crafted from hand twisting Sisal in a traditional Kikuyu method of weaving. We primarily work with the Akamba women tribe for our unique styles. The subtle colors come from natures abundance of mango leaves, tree bark and a variety of roots. The functional straps are fashioned from genuine Kenya cowhide.
This ancestral process of weaving has been passed from generation to generation making it such a special and very important piece of history to keep this art alive and never allow it to be lost in our modern world.
We pride ourselves in sourcing only sustainably products, although being completely transparent with our clients and upfront about every detail is more important to us when we don't meet that goal completely. Any bag with bright colors has been dyed with low impact synthetic coloring.
The neutral subtle colors are from natural elements from the earth.
